Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the negative comments from others destroy his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
