Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

He began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
