Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about poker. He would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the negative comments from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
