Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the planet by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup anything he could about the game. He would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative comments from others kill his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable love for poker. He says that he’s learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
