Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he could about poker. He routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the negative feedback from others annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated many of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a normal basis.
