Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental feedback from other people destroy his goal of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.

He began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
