Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse comments from other people destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an undying love for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
