Phil Ivey has been referred to as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors every single session of poker and always strives to improve.

Although Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
