Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor in the world by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from others kill his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He started playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an eternal love for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
