Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental comments from others kill his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

He started playing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning period and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
